Possible Episode 1 Release Confirmation!

Thanks to an sharp eyed reader it seams that The Digital Bits has confirmed that Episode 1 will come out on DVD on October 16 as a 2 disk set. I do hope The Digital Bits informant is correct on when the DVD will come out. If only the people at Fox or Lucasfilm would give us some offical information... On another note, the folks over at TheForce.net report that Warwick Davis recently went back and redubbed some scenes for the upcoming DVD.

News and Stuff!

Incase you are a little low on the learning curve you may know my tour of the Star Wars DVD production was an April Fool's joke. Now for the new update! I clipped this little jem out of the local Wal Mart flyer . Do not forget to read the fine print :) Now on to the good news, according to what was said by Rick McCallum at a recent Star Wars convention Star Wars Episode 1 should be out "soon". Now I do not know what his idea of soon is, but for me its next week, or at the very latest May... On a good note there will be deleated scenes, no word on the important stuff like anamorphic transfer or DTS. At any rate for a DVD that took 2 years to make it better be good. Here is an interesting theory about the DVD release.. Rick McCallum states that it will come out soon, soon for most people is not 6 months down the road.. now factor in the rumors that the DVD has already been manufactured and the Episode 1 movie on TV has been pushed back to this fall.. I am guessing that we could see a DVD release this summer?!? at any rate I will cross my fingers and hope.

You can grap more news at these links:

Now here is some interesing news, according to DVD Sewer some time later this year we should see Muppet Show episodes on DVD. Now what does this have to do with Star Wars? On of the episodes has a Star Wars theme to it, staring none other than Mark Hamill!

Lots of Rumors.

There have been a lot of rumors going around latley, I wish Lucas or Fox would give some sort of offical release about the status of Star Wars coming to DVD. It has been about a year since any offical news has benn released, so I think we are a bit overdue for something new.

The first big rumor is that Star Wars Episode 1 is curently in production, how do they know this? Over at Corona's Test Pattren the have a supposedly leaked documnet about Episode 1 being in production. Prequel Watch! also has rumors on a DVD release this fall. The big rumor come from Ain't it Cool News. In their article they say they have release date for Episode 1 as well as dates for the other Star Wars movies coming to DVD. So if what they say is true (remember its just a rumor!) we will have Episode 1 on DVD on Cotober 16.

Bunch of Stuff...

Howdy again! Time for more news and stuff! First off DVD Angle is reporting that Episode 1 will indeed be released in November, but no formal press release has been done yet. In some related DVD news, Hardware Wars a parody of Star Wars will come out on DVD in about 6 months. You can get all the dirt here: You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll kiss 3 bucks goodbye...HARDWARE WARS on DVD!

Here are some fun forum threads to keep you busy:

More Episode 1 in November rumors.

Howdy once again Star Wars fans. I was browsing one of my favorate Star Wars toys sites, Rebelscum.com. Anyway they have a neat link to a Netherlands Star Wars site that has a picture of a flyer that lists Episode 1 for a November release. You can visit the site Rebel Collectors' World and see the picture of the sale add here. One thing to note, over there they are Region #2, and sometimes release dates differ between Region #1 and Region #2, so we could get it on a different date. A French site dvdfr.com also has similar news about a release at the end of the year (that is if I am reading it correct, my french reading skills suck the big one).
The Star Wars guys over at The Force.net are asking about what you want to see on a Star Wars DVD , so pop on over and take a look.

Here are some forum links to kill some time on One and Only Star Wars on DVD thread Part II, If Indiana Jones, SW, or BTTF came to DVD, Star Wars Question/Poll .

Rumors and stuff...

Hello once again! Not too much of the way in big news.... Here are some forum threads for you to read The Phantom Menace.....is it true and Another TPM post - I hope Bill Hunt is right . The Force.net has a rumor that is worth looking at. From their source they say that sombody is doing market research to see when people would like to have certain DVD's released to buy. Supposedly Episoe 1 and the other Star Wars Movies was polled at a release of 2002. Here is another fun link The Finger Gallery .

Stuff....

Howdy all! No big fun new rumors, or release dates :( So time for a bit of a rant :) It baffles me that so many good films have yet to be released on DVD. Over at Amazon.com the have a list in their DVD section of the most requested DVD's. Can you guess what is #1 on the list?
Here is Amazon's top 10 most requested DVD's:

  1. Star Wars
  2. The Empire Strikes Back
  3. The Godfather
  4. Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
  5. Return of the Jedi
  6. Star Wars: Episode I, The Phantom Menace
  7. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
  8. Back to the Future
  9. Forrest Gump
  10. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Now some of these are rumored to be in devolpment and may be out this year, while others are in limbo and may not be seen before the next ice age. Which brings me to the $64,000 question, why have thses titles not being released yet? It sure is not for a lack of people wating to buy these movies (I bet if Episode 1 comes out in November it will sell 5 million copies in a month, if not more). Could it be that the studios do not have enough space at their DVD replication plants to make current releases and these past blockcusters? Or are they too busy mastering current films to be on DVD? Maybe they feel that DVD needs to grow more before they get released? At anyrate what I do know is that a few million Star Wars fans would shell out their cash as soon as they hit the video store shelf to get Star Wars on DVD.
Now you ask what can I, a lowly consumer do about this? I would have to say write to Fox and to Lucas Film, tell them you want it now (remember to be nice, nobody likes a rude letter). If they get enough letters they just may get off their rears and release it sooner rather than later. You can find the adress to Mr. Lucas on the left menu bar.
So untill we get an offical release stay away from the Dark Side and do not support bootlegs. Also don't forget to vote in the poll, in case some studio big wigs are visting this site its best to let your opinion knowen. Bonus link: The Best Way to View TPM.

New Poll, and other stuff.

I have a new poll up on the left so vote away! Hopefully some of the folks at Fox that are working on the Episode 1 DVD may get some positive feedback from the poll.

Now for some other newish stuff to help keep you busy for the next 286 days or so... New Japanese LD Star wars trilogy, and my thoughts and Episode I to be released late this year!!! . Have fun, should have a rant for you at the end of the week.

Rumors, Bickering, and Fanboys, oh my!

Howdy DVD fans, got a lot of stuff this update for you. First off we will start with some good rumors from them nice folks over at The Digital Bits. They are back from their coverage of the VSDA/CES show and bring back some good rumors. They say "And while the studio will say nothing on the record, I have very reliable word that Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace will be a late 2001 release on DVD, as at least a 2-disc set (and maybe 3 discs). Episode I will be the only Star Wars film to arrive on DVD this year however." So some good news that Episode 1 should be out later this year, and some bad news that Episode 4-6 will not be out this year. I can only hope this rumor will hold true and we will see Star Wars on DVD this year. I have updated the count-down clock for November, I hope the people at Fox give us a more accurate date to fine tune the counter ;)

Now on to some bickering... I just love it when you get two opposing views on something, The Force.net provides us withs two views on the DVD issue. New Digital Disciple Says "Let's Wait On Star Wars DVDs" and Give Me the DVD!.

Now on to some Fanboy madness!! The Force.net has a fun little interview you can grab here Spilling the Beans About Episode II After listening to this I got a big laugh, it seams some Star Wars Fanboy is spewing a bunch of info about Episode 2. I personally think the guy is a fake, and that what he says is a load of horse dung. But in the radio interview (at times 1 hour 15 min and 1 hour 26 min, if the radio site relinks the interview) he says that Lucas is doing the DVD's with such features as: comentary with Lucas and some primary film people, deleated scenes such as Biggs from Episode 4, and some sort of first reel thing from the novel of Epsode 4. The Fanboy says that Lucas is inspired from Francis Ford Coppola's recent work on DVD's. At any rate if the radio site decides to relink the interview its worth a laugh, with such talk subjects as Hitler, Lemon Pledge, and Doriteos, and a Fanboy freaking out at the end.

Some bounus links!! POLL: Star Wars Special Editions or Original Editions.
I hope to get a new poll up soon so stay tuned!

Happy New Year eh.

Well no Star Wars DVD's this year :( I can only hope that Lucas has a new year's resolution to release all of the Star Wars films on DVD in 2001.
